Her father and fellow slayers were assassinated by Sango's little brother, Kohaku. Kohaku was under the spell of Naraku, and he turned on his loved ones. She was tricked by Naraku into believing that Inu Yasha was the one who caused the bloodshed, and went after him. Because of Kohaku's damage inflicted upon her, she should have died, but didn't. Naraku deceived her, and kept her alive using a shikon shard. Inu Yasha's group was able to convince her to believe the truth about Naraku's trickery and and deception, and she has joined their quest. Sango is too cute for her own good, for Miroku fondles her more than anyone else.
